Conference: Next Steps
The World Tamil Writers Conference ended on 30 November 2011. The main conference was attended by more than 200 registered participants. The public talks in the evenings drew more than 1500 attendees over three evenings.
At the main conference, nearly 30 presentations were made by speakers from more than 10 countries. All the submitted papers were made available to conference participants in a draft form to facilitate prior reading as well as discussions during sessions. A fully edited book will be published soon. Those interested in conference papers may contact relevant authors through email addresses which are provided under the biodata section of this website.
The feedback on the conference has been mostly positive and encouraging. In view of the exceptionally popular reception to this conference, the international Conference Content Committee recommended that the conference be made into a series and be held every two or three years with the same theme, the same logo and under the supervision of an international advisory panel to be appointed by Association of Singapore Tamil Writers (ASTW).
The Chairman of ASTW, Mr Naa Aandeappan, announced these recommendations at the close of the conference and undertook to appoint the advisory panel and initiate the preparations for the next conference in 2013 or 2014.
